Rachel and Sophie- Happy 1st Anniversary by Nicola Honey

Rachel and Sophie's wedding has been by far one of my favourite weddings.  I did both their hair and makeup for their wedding day.

They expressed they felt a little nervous about having their hair and makeup done as they often do not wear makeup..

Rachel and Sophie are made for each other and I had so much fun with them, they came together to their trial and got ready together on their wedding day too, they are soul mates and wanted to share all the special things of the day , together!  Just lovely!.

I love doing both the hair and makeup on a bride as I feel like completing a whole look is so rewarding, I felt so special that they trusted me with this task ,  the fact I was able to do the hair and makeup for both brides was a lovely treat!.

On the day I had the added bonus of Chris Barber Photography doing his magic.

It is quite rare you get good 'makeup' photos  from a wedding as naturally the photographer is focusing on the wedding photography rather than the makeup, but Chris captured some beautiful makeup shots showing off their beauty in such a serene way.

I love Chris's photography , the pictures are so raw, full of emotion , beautiful and always captures natural laughter and excitement.  I could not wait to see the final wedding photos after seeing the engagement shoot. The wedding was held at the Custard factory teamed with a VW, colouful converse, black bridesmaid dresses and bright yellow sunflowers, this wedding oozed Rachel and Sophie's personalities.  Happy 1st Anniversary !!!!

5 star My wife and I had both our hair and make up done by Nicola for our big day and literally couldn’t have been more happy with the results! Neither of us usually wear make up but Nicola listened to everything we wanted and helped make us look and feel amazing on our perfect day! Thank you so much x

Makeup look - Emma by Nicola Honey

Emma got married to Joe on the 23rd May at Billesley Manor hotel , her dress was from Shakespeare in Love Wedding Boutique, their beautiful photography was taken by Jennifer Peel Photography

Emma along with her beautiful mother had five gorgeous bridesmaids , I had such a fun morning listening to all their stories and doing their makeup.

Billesley Manor is out of this world amazing!  A beautiful 16th Century Manour house set in 11 acres of grounds,  only three miles from historic Stratford-upon-Avon  . It has 100 year old topiary gardens and a pool!

The bridesmaids wore a mint coloured dress so I thought a soft pastel pink on the lips with golden eyeshadow would work a treat.

On Emma I used the following products .

* Painterly Paint pot all over lid

*Soft beige Eyeshadow on the brow

*Omega Eyeshadow through the brows with clear Brow Set

*Honeylust Eyeshadows on the lid

* Wedge eyeshadow through the socket

* Phloof eyeshadow in the inner corners and the centre of the lid.

*Dip down Fluid line along top lash line.

*Black mascara and individual lashes

* C1 Face and body on the face with Pale Ivory and Sand Bobbi brown foundation mixed together.

*NW15 concealer under the eyes

*Prep and prime CC colour corrector powder in Neutralize all over the face

*Sweet william blusher on the cheeks with Hush and Shell Cream colour base on the cheekbones.

*Lovelorn lipstick mixed with Politely pink lipstick

My very first journal post by Nicola Honey

I used to write so much when I was younger, whether it be in a diary, poems or lyrics, I had stacks of books with writings, scribbles and sketches.

I have found in recent years I am not so prolific and find writing tricky, I am most definitely more artistic and I would rather pick up a brush than a pen, so honestly for me writing a blog is quite daunting but I would love to share with you what I get up to with my makeup adventures.

I will start with a little bit about myself.  I started working with makeup over 16 years ago, I feel honoured to do a job I love,  the fact that I get to do something different everyday makes it even more interesting, whether it be a different face, venue or look, I love the variety!

I especially love, love, love weddings.  The flowers, the dress, the shoes and of course the hair and makeup.  From the preparation of the trial to the excitement of the day,  weddings are by far my favorite events to take part in.

I have always loved drawing and painting, growing up I was always drawing and used to plaster my bedroom walls with drawings of my favorite bands, so it was a natural progression for me to start 'painting' people.  I love how a little makeup applied correctly can make a world of difference to a person's confidence, it can instantly make a person flourish, it sounds cheesy but the aura of someone who feels beautiful makes me feel so happy and so delighted that I contributed to that person feeling that way.

I initially took a Performing arts course in 1997 and I did a theatrical makeup class as part of the course, I was not really a fan of the performing arts part of the course but loved doing the makeup class so I then went back to college to learn  about makeup, I did all sorts of makeup from theatrical, photography, fashion and editorial, I also learnt about wig making and hairdressing too.  I then started to work for MAC, I was with the company for over 12 years, I loved it !. I had the opportunity to do so many things including body painting in Europe, London fashion week on many occasions, representing at trade shows, product launches, charity events  and teaching makeup classes.  The training with MAC was constant, we had training every three months to keep us up to date with the cosmetics industry, product knowledge, trends and perfecting my artistry skills.  My time there was so much fun and invaluable.

I then fancied a drastic change and took myself off for a taste of the Far east .....  (to be continued .....)

When I returned to England I continued to build my Freelance business in Birmingham UK.  I am loving every moment of working as a freelance hair and makeup artist, I hope you will join me in my next journal post, that's all for now .

 xx Honey xx ......Bee lovely.
